Researcher biography

Geoff teaches British history, urban history and heritage studies in the School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry. His biography of the English mystic, antiquarian, Freemason and museums pioneer J.S.M. Ward appeared in 2012. His current projects examine imperial cities in a broad historical perspective, the historical archaeology of Brisbane, and Broad Church Anglican social activism in late-Victorian London. Since 2005 he has served on the Board of the State Library of Queensland (to 2008) and the Queensland Museum (2008-2013), and as a judge in the Queensland Literary Awards.
